NetView Is Launched
Today, we proudly launch NetView. Many of you have already taken a test drive of Netview and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. If you haven't yet taken NetView for a spin, simply visit https://netview.maves.com/, click "User Registration", complete the form and we'll set you up. Below is additional information about NetView we're more than happy to share.
What exactly is NetView?
A few years ago, we launched e-Z View. e-Z View was a browser based module of our package intended for your clients. It enabled your customers to log in 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from their internet-connected computer to access current information about their inbounds, outbounds, inventory, etc.
NetView is the next generation of e-Z View. The spirit is the same, giving your clients the ability to self-serve as much as possible via their web browser. The spirit may be the same, but the end result is quite different. We'll elaborate on these differences below.
e-Z View had components that required Internet Explorer. Is this still true with NetView?
No way! Throughout the development of NetView we were sure to adhere to standards and tested each element thoroughly in both Internet Explorer and Firefox. NetView users can choose which browser they prefer.
Is NetView only available as part of e-Z Ware or can a C Series client buy NetView?
A C Series client would have to buy e-Z View, still available for this purpose. If you want NetView, you'll have to upgrade to e-Z Ware, which you should be doing anyways. NetView is for e-Z Ware only!
When is NetView available to buy?
NetView is officially launched and available to buy today, April 8, 2005.
What's different in NetView vs. e-Z View
In addition to the markup language being XHTML and fully utilizing CSS, there are a number of new features. Many are subtle tweaks to how e-Z View behaved to enhance the NetView experience for the end user, but there are many substantial improvements.
- The Home Page - This is very cool. You can easily customize the content that appears on your NetView home page. You can do this in an easy and intuitive program within e-Z Ware. Not only can you customize content for all of your NetView users, but you can designate specific content for a particular group or user. The positive marketing implications are many. Not only is the home page content targeted in this manner, but the background image is as well!
- Create Outbounds - This component was completely rebuilt for NetView and has a number of improved features. For one, a user can now recall previously entered orders from a browse and easily toggle between the details page and the header page. You can also order from a lot associated with a product.
- Reports - Reports are placed on the user's unique and secure bulletin board in PDF (as a default) and these reports are now sortable in a convenient table.
- Change Client and Default - If a NetView user has more than one client assigned to his or her username, he/she can change clients on the fly. Sure, this was possible in e-Z View, but NetView users can also change their default client which is the client they are when they initially log in to NetView.
- Editing Your User Profile - The objective of NetView is to reduce the number of customer service calls your clients have to place with you. Now it's easy for the end user to edit their email address, password, number of rows in their tables on their own within NetView. This is a very good thing.
- Help! - The NetView User Guide is merely a click away for all NetView users who may have a question or two. Easy access to self-help manuals complete with screen captures is yet another way to alleviate the need for a NetView user to contact you. Having said that, if there's a definite need to contact the NetView Webmaster, NetView help includes a link that automatically generates an email to the defined Webmaster. It's the best of both worlds.
- Enhanced Webmaster Options - When you log in to NetView as the Webmaster, you are greeted with a number of enhanced options that make managing NetView and NetView users a breeze. The Customize Query option has been cleaned up and is now far more intuitive and effective. The same is true for the Menu Security option. As with the user side, there is easy access to a helpful NetView Webmaster Guide and a link to automatically generate an email to the education team here at Maves.
- Main Menu Access - The main navigation menu is available from every page. This includes the logout button. Every page is a click away from everywhere.
- Real Estate Exploitation - NetView makes effective and economical use of real estate. Tables assume 100% of the width of a user's browser and each column will wrap to ensure the entire table is visible without requiring the dreaded horizontal scroll bar. We know that when it comes to real estate one must focus on location, location, location. NetView gets it.
- Lean and Mean Code - Because NetView doesn't contain bloated source code and adheres to W3C standards, the pages load faster. Speed and stability are the wonderful side effects of this approach.
